12/1/2010 Mosa obtains new Cradle to Cradle® Silver certificates

Mosa has succeeded again in obtaining a Cradle to Cradle Silver certificate for floor and wall tiles.

Mosa takes the next step in Cradle to Cradle®

Mosa has succeeded again to obtain the Silver Cradle to Cradle certificate for floor and wall tiles. This means that nearly the entire Mosa tile collection, being 99% of all wall and floor tiles, are now Cradle to Cradle Silver certified. Cradle to Cradle implies a positive approach of sustainability in which products are produced in such an environmentally friendly manner that they can be re-used indefinitely. In this philosophy product waste is viewed as raw material for a new product. In other words: waste is food.

Together with the knowledge institute EPEA, Mosa has worked for over a year at improving its tiles and production processes. In 2011 Mosa will continue to invest in sustainability by adjusting the product composition, production techniques and production facilities. Saving on energy and reducing the CO2 exhaust will remain important issues. From 2011 on, sustainable production will be implemented in the Mosa corporate mission statement. Other developments will be done in the area of recycling of tiles. Mosa is actively involved in the research on recycling building waste. In 2011 the possibilities in collection cutting waste and building waste will be further investigated. Besides the closed materials cycle, in which all faulty tiles are recycled during the production process, Mosa wants to go even further. Over the past year, Mosa has succeeded in closing the process water cycle for 100%. Besides product innovations and new tile designs, Mosa will continue to use production solutions which are cleaner and more efficient, also in 2011.
